Course Description
The RCIA process is designed to serve the Holy Spirit’s work of conversion, deeply involving a parish community in the shared work of offering the goodness and graces of the Catholic Church to all souls. This course, through exploring the three aspects of the process, is a comprehensive walk through Mother Church’s vision for initiation of new children into her fold and into relationship with the Trinity, and how to pragmatically and effectively implement this in a modern parish setting.

RCIA: The Day of Initiation taught by Rev. Randy Stice
Course Description
The Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist “form a single saving event — called ‘Christian initiation’ — in which we are inserted into Jesus Christ, who died and rose, and become new creatures and members of the Church” (Pope Francis). This course looks in detail at the single saving event of the Sacraments of Initiation as celebrated at the Easter Vigil. It employs the method of mystagogical catechesis proposed by Pope Benedict XVI in Sacramentum Caritatis (no. 64) that consists of three elements: the Old Testament roots of each sacrament, the meaning of the signs of the rites, and “the significance of the rites for the Christian life in all its dimensions.”

RCIA: Mystagogical Formation taught by Dr. Timothy O'Malley
Course Description
Dissatisfaction with the period of mystagogy in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is nearly universal. In this course, we will explore an approach to mystagogy that seeks to rectify the near absence of post-baptismal formation in the parish. In five classes, participants will learn about the history of mystagogy, the nature of mystagogy in post-baptismal catechesis today, and discern a way forward for renewing mystagogical formation in the parish not only during the Easter season but throughout the year.

What is a Liturgy Week?
The Liturgical Movement that began in France in the 19th century was created to aid in the liturgical renewal of the Catholic Church. Figures of this movement established the "Liturgy Week" conference where priests and Catholic liturgists from all over the world would attend to learn and discuss different sacramental topics. The first of these conferences in America was held in Chicago in 1940. It is our hope to reignite this tradition in the same place that it started over eighty years ago.
